Philosophy and approach to photography
Commercial Photographer Andy Rasheed | South Australia
A crash course in event photography
Getting thorough photographic coverage of a major corporate event requires a broad photographic skillset. Potentially, I'll need to do portraiture, architectural photography, action/performance photography, low light photography and food photography. I need to quickly respond and document what unfolds before me.
The complexity of building communicative advertising photographs. A case study.
With this type of image-making, every detail is a choice and there are a series of decisions that need to be made to effectively tell the story.
Functional artworks for therapeutic environments
Art is a useful tool in therapeutic environments. Art can affect our senses, the choice of imagery can determine if we feel repelled, or welcome and can offer an expansive option in a confining situation. All of which have an influence on our ability to heal ourselves.
Creating “Nature Portals ”, An exhibition of new macro photographic artworks by Andy Rasheed.
I am very excited to announce my upcoming solo exhibition, “Nature Portals.” A fantastical collection of abstract macro photographs of Australian plants. The exhibition will be held at Flinders Medical Centre as part of their Arts in Health programme and run across February and March in the Promenade gallery A.
Commercial Architectural Photography
The key images aim to tell the story of the completed building. What it is, where it is, what was it made from, and what is it like to occupy? Given that buildings are so multifaceted, this story is told over a body of images.
What constitutes commercial photography?
Several factors contribute to how easy an image is to read or understand. It’s the ways that they are combined that make a photo a successful piece of communication. I’ll talk about some of these main factors and how they function.
What makes a viable advertising photograph?
The ultimate goal is to create a photograph that resonates with the target audience and can generate a sense of connection towards the object or brand. The subject matter is the lure to pique interest, and the way the image is composed and lit is the berley to motivate them to linger and absorb the message.
The portfolio mechanism
On a personal level, it’s the motivating force behind portfolio development that has had the most profound effect on my photographic career.
Wedding Photography
For me, photographing a wedding is about documentation of a celebration with the least intrusion possible.
The single most challenging photograph of my career
Throughout my photographic career, I have had a few opportunities to photograph cars but nothing ongoing. That was until Finch Restorations asked me to photograph a coffee table based on a Porsche 911 (991) engine and PDK transmission. It turned out to be the beginning of a great symbiotic relationship.
