Philosophy and approach to photography
Commercial Photographer Andy Rasheed | South Australia
Industrial Photography
My industrial photography has taken me on numerous trips to remote mining facilities, water treatment plants across Australia and New Zealand, the desalination plant, Torrens Island power station and a significant number of smaller factory operations. Places that I would never have been privy to without a camera in my hands.
Copy Photography of Artworks
Copy photography of art is not about the photographer's style but how to make a photograph that best serves the artist in representing their work. It should clearly illustrate as much information as possible about the work itself, and be engaging.
A crash course in event photography
Getting thorough photographic coverage of a major corporate event requires a broad photographic skillset. Potentially, I'll need to do portraiture, architectural photography, action/performance photography, low light photography and food photography. I need to quickly respond and document what unfolds before me.
What constitutes commercial photography?
Several factors contribute to how easy an image is to read or understand. It’s the ways that they are combined that make a photo a successful piece of communication. I’ll talk about some of these main factors and how they function.
What makes a viable advertising photograph?
The ultimate goal is to create a photograph that resonates with the target audience and can generate a sense of connection towards the object or brand. The subject matter is the lure to pique interest, and the way the image is composed and lit is the berley to motivate them to linger and absorb the message.
The portfolio mechanism
On a personal level, it’s the motivating force behind portfolio development that has had the most profound effect on my photographic career.
Commercial portraiture should never be a Tug-of-war.
As a commercial photographer, I have found that I'm able to present myself as status neutral. This is a quick look at the key factors that allow to build rapport with anyone and help them enjoy being photographed.
Branding; Five things you should know
A business needs to have an identity: a unique brand. A look that sets this business apart from the competition. Every component must fit as a part of an overall package that is considered and refined. To present a group of unified components that represent a slick operation that will generate professional results.
Location Car Photography; Light Painting
Photography of any vehicle is challenging, in fact, I can’t think of many objects which are more complex to shoot. A car is a large object made up of a mixture of highly reflective complex curves with a combination of finishes that extend from mirror to matt, with potential colour ranges from gloss white to mat black.
Photographing children
The child being photographed should feel that everything is under control and that they are at the centre of something that is great fun. Importantly they also need to understand that with their help we can make something really special.
